- Must be a U. S. citizen
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Must live within 30 miles of the City Limits
- Must have basic plumbing and electrical skills and experience
- Must be capable of strenuous labor and able to lift 75 lbs
EQUIPMENT SKILLS
- Must have a valid driver’s license, CDL preferred, and the ability to operate the following equipment:
- Pick Up Truck
- Backhoe
- Dump Truck with Snow Plow
- Tractor and Brush Cutter
- Skid Steer
- Grasshopper Mower
DUTIES
- All Water System Operations Including, but not Limited to:
- Checking and Regulating Chemicals
- Checking and Regulating Water Tower Levels
- Maintain Water Pumps at Wells
- Ordering Chemicals
- Connecting New Water Services to Water Mains
- Setting, Changing and Maintaining Water Meters, Meter Pits and Fire Hydrants
- Reading Water Meters Monthly and Upon Request
- Finding and Repairing Water Leaks
- Collecting and Delivering Bi-Weekly, Annual and All Other Water Samples Required by the State and /or EPA
- Attend Training Sessions for Certification and Recertification as Water System Operator
- Terminate Water Services for Non-Payment
- Turn Water Services On and Off for Customers as Requested
- Prepare Annual Report for State
- Locate Water Lines When Requested
- Keep and Submit Records as Required by the City, State and/or EPA and Provide a Copy to the City Clerk
- Daily checks including weekends
- All Sewer System Operations Including, but not Limited to:
- Check and Maintain Lift Stations
- Connect New Sewer Services to Sewer Mains
- Report all By-Passes to the State and City Clerk
- Collect and Ship Sewer Samples Quarterly
- Check and Maintain Sewer Lagoons and Lagoon Site
- Maintain Sewer Mains and Manholes
- Attend Training Sessions for Certification and Recertification as Sewer System Operator
- Locate Sewer Lines When Requested
- Keep and Submit Records as Required by the City, State and/or EPA and Provide a copy to the City Clerk
- Daily checks including weekends
- Do Inspections and Make Reports for Issuing Notices for:
- Junk Vehicle Violations
- Weed Ordinance Violations
- Nuisance Ordinance Violations
- Property Clean-Up Notices
- Hazardous Properties
- Dog or Animal Ordinance Violations
- Required to Attend Any Court Hearing at Which the City Superintendent’s Testimony is Needed on Behalf of the City
- Keep City Properties Clean and Mowed
- Maintenance of All City Buildings
- Inspect Blue Building after Use for Deposit Refunds
- Clean Street Gutters
- Patch and Maintain City Streets, Curbs and Alleys
- Maintain City Traffic Signs and Street Signs
- Maintain Burning Dump Site
- Order Rock for Stockpile and Haul to Residents When Necessary
- Clean Snow and Ice from City Streets and Sidewalks at the Municipal and Blue Buildings
- Maintain City Equipment
- Pick Up and Transport Loose and Stray Dogs
- Clean, Paint and Prepare the Pool and Water Features for Opening Each Year
- Order Initial Chemicals for Pool
- Attend Pool Operator Training / Know How to Regulate Chemical Balance and Test Water in Pool
- Maintain Equipment at Pool
- Drain and Winterize Pool, Water Features and Pool House at the End of Each Season
- Be Available to Report When Called-In for Emergencies (i.e. water leaks, pool equipment problems, water or sewer alarms sounding, etc.)
- Meet with Contractors, Engineers, Etc. to Discuss Projects When Necessary
- Obtain Bids for Proposed Projects and for Large Purchases as Directed
- Purchase Supplies Necessary for Operations and Maintenance – Turn in Receipts to the City Clerk for Verification of Billings
- Attend Monthly City Council Meetings and Present a Report of the Work Done During the Previous Month, Work Proposed for the Future, Etc. Attend Special City Council Meetings as Directed.
- Submit Weekly Work Log to the City Clerk
- Organize and Maintain the City Shop Department.
- Provide an Annual Inventory of All Equipment, Tools and Supplies of the City Shop Department to the City Council by February 1st Each Year.
- Put-Up, Take-Down and Maintain the City’s Christmas Decorations
- Perform any Other Duties as Directed by the City Council
